The Corona situation is getting worse and worse, far too few people are vaccinated! Now a German tells how he perceives the situation in Russia’s capital Moscow: “…in the city the hearses drive without end”!
As the German Bishop of Saratov (Clemens Pickel) tells Domradio in an interview, the situation in Russia is dramatic and depressing! Pickel: “We have the big problem with us that many people are not vaccinated. Almost two-thirds, I think, are not yet vaccinated. That means the likelihood of rising corona numbers is very high. Every day the number of people infected and the number of people who die is growing. This is a big burden.”. Also, the death toll in Russia and especially in the mega-metropolis of Moscow is rising rapidly – the problem, no confidence in own, highly praised vaccine Sputnik!

The images are sadly reminiscent of Bergamo, at the beginning of the Corona crisis the bodies were virtually piling up here, long lines of army vehicles in front of the hospitals are etched in people’s minds. Pickel on the situation in Moscow: “I or other people all see ambulances driving around the city without end, including hearses. It’s an image you’re getting used to. As long as it doesn’t affect you or your neighbour, it doesn’t quite get to you. But when you know people who have been affected by it – and as a church, as pastors, we obviously know people who have been hit hard – it’s a whole different story.” – the government is now planning further lockdowns and measures to deal with the situation!
