Europe in the stranglehold of the virus! Austria and surrounding neighboring countries are probably today to high-risk areas classified – now the hammer message! As just became known Holland goes 3 weeks into the lockdown!
.
Tonight the outgoing Dutch cabinet announced a new lockdown, it is to last three weeks! One of the measures is that the hospitality industry and non-essential businesses will have to close at 7pm. It is also recommended to invite a maximum of four visitors to your home and to work at home as much as possible. The measures will come into effect at 7pm on Saturday. Holland is trying to get a grip on skyrocketing numbers this way. Could something similar befall Germany?
With a three-week lockdown, the outgoing cabinet would go further than the two weeks recommended by the Outbreak Management Team. But in other respects the Cabinet is not going that far: cinemas and theatres are likely to remain open, contrary to the OMT’s recommendation. Cabinet is still looking at food service facilities at cinemas and theatres. Sporting events will also remain possible, but without spectators in the stands. This means that, for example, the World Cup qualifier between the Netherlands and Norway on Tuesday evening will be played in an empty stadium.
.
More details: “lockdown” 3 weeks; hospitality industry closed for 7 hours, no spectators at sports games, e.g. Netherlands-Norway in empty stadium, 1.5 meter backstop, extension of QR to amusement parks and zoos. And tomorrow a decision on 2G
In the meantime, the government wants to legislate and enforce new, longer-term measures such as a one-and-a-half-metre distance. It takes about a week or two for new legislation to be drafted and considered in the House of Commons and House of Lords.
