Corona measures completely abolished! Infection figures rise over 53% upwards!

Norway and Denmark were among the countries that had first opted for a complete abolition of the Corona measures. But now the infection figures in the two countries are rising again significantly. First voices are raised, which argue for a renewed introduction of protective measures, in order to prevent a further spread of the infection numbers.

Norway and Denmark report significantly higher number of Covid-19 infections

After the situation around the coronavirus seemed already settled in both Norway and Denmark, now the infection numbers rise again. This is despite the fact that significantly more people in both countries have been vaccinated against the coronavirus than in Germany. In Denmark, a 73 percent increase in the number of infections compared to the previous week was reported on Thursday. With it the country-wide incidence value arrived there now already at 148. Especially around the capital Copenhagen, particularly many cases of infection are registered. Also in Norway the numbers had risen within the last 7 days by 53 per cent. However, the infection figures in both countries are not yet reflected in the number of Covid 19 patients treated in hospital. Only recently, both countries had lifted all protective measures against the coronavirus. Thus, in both countries, protective masks do not have to be worn, nor do corona passports have to be presented. Overall, 87 percent of the population in Norway has been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Will restrictions now be reintroduced?

Despite the rising infection figures, people in Norway are still relaxed about the current development. There, the government has decided not to go back to Corona measures. One wants to observe the situation first still a little, but is also ready to reintroduce measures if it should prove necessary, as Health Minister Ingvild Kjerkol confirmed on Thursday. The city of Tromsø has a particularly high number of infections at the moment. Residents of the city were advised on Thursday to observe the distance rules, to wear face masks and if possible to work in a home office. In Denmark, 75 percent of the population has been vaccinated against Covid-19. On Friday, the Danish parliament will discuss the current situation. Only then should it be clear whether restrictions against Covid-19 may have to be reintroduced there.
