Did Biden fall asleep at climate conference? Trump and Twitter are laughing their heads off!

Joe Biden closes his eyes at the world climate conference. Now he is accused of falling asleep. Former President Donald Trump can’t let it go – and is firing against his 78-year-old successor.

Twitter users are accusing U.S. President Joe Biden, 78, of falling asleep during the opening session of the climate change conference in Glasgow, Scotland. A video clip, first shared by a Washington Post reporter, shows Biden listening to an opening speaker and closing his eyes.

The speaker says that the leaders gathered for the conference have the “power to make decisions and reach agreements that will affect the lives of future generations.” During these words, the president closes his eyes for about 20 seconds.

“He needed a nap”

An aide then approaches and whispers something to Biden. Thereupon, the US president listens to the speech again. On Twitter, it says of the scenes, “He needed a nap.” Some users write that this is embarrassing for the US. But he is also defended by numerous Twitter users. For example, they say, “Have you seen his itinerary the last few days?”

Biden started his trip from Washington on Thursday. On Friday, he visited the Pope in Rome, Italy, and met with French President Emmanuel Macron, 43. On Saturday and Sunday, he attended G20 meetings. Since then, he has been in Glasgow. The White House has not yet responded to several media inquiries about the allegedly sleeping Biden.

Trump etches against Biden

One person couldn’t resist commenting on the scene: Former President Donald Trump (75). He had given Biden the nickname “Sleepy Joe” (German: schläfriger Joe). At 78, Biden is the oldest person to hold the office of President of the United States.

Trump, who is banned on numerous social media platforms, causticized via a circular email. “Biden traveled to Europe and declared that global warming was his top priority, and then fell asleep in front of the world at the conference itself,” Trump wrote.

He continues, “No one who has real enthusiasm and belief in an issue will ever fall asleep!” To this, Trump repeats his theory, proven to be a lie, that his election victory was stolen from him and calls climate change a hoax. (euc)
