RKI reports further increase in numbers!

The nationwide seven-day incidence of new Corona infections has continued to rise. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) said Friday morning, citing data from public health departments, that the figure rose to 340.7, reaching a new high for the twelfth day in a row. On Thursday, the incidence had been 336.9. Nationwide, 52,970 new infections were also recorded within 24 hours.

The seven-day incidence indicates the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. On Monday of last week, the value had exceeded the threshold of 200 for the first time, which until then had been the highest mark since the beginning of the pandemic. Since then, new highs have been recorded daily.

On Thursday, the federal and state governments also established the hospitalization incidence as a new important measure for the Corona measures. This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants are hospitalized within seven days due to a Corona infection. On Thursday, the hospitalization incidence was 5.3 nationwide, according to the RKI.
