Top virologist Dr. Fauci warns vaccinated people! Do not do it under any circumstances!

Dr. Fauci warns vaccinated people to gather before they do! This new recommendation comes as Omicron is spreading ahead of the holidays.

Fauci issues an urgent warning!

While countless warnings were issued this time last year to cancel celebrations, health officials have already largely given the green light to holiday events this winter. Millions of people have already traveled to be with family and friends this Christmas. But now that a new variant is circulating, everything seems to be up in the air again. According to the New York Times, the Omicron variant has already been detected in 20 states, and experts say it is almost certainly circulating in other parts of the country. While authorities have not yet placed restrictions on Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, some are offering new advice on how to celebrate more safely in light of this potentially contagious new variant.

How to get together safely!

During a December 8 interview on Washington Post Live, top White House COVID advisor Anthony Fauci, MD, discussed recent developments in the COVID pandemic with Frances Stead Sellers, a Washington Post reporter. According to Fauci, not much has to change for vaccinated people to gather for the holidays amid the new variant, as long as they are with other fully vaccinated people.

“If you’re vaccinated and you have a vaccinated group and you’re in an enclosed space, you can have dinner and get together with vaccinated people at home, as has been the practice for years,” he explained.

But now that Omicron is spreading, the infectious disease expert said vaccinated people should take extra precautions to make sure they don’t surround themselves with people who haven’t yet been vaccinated.

“If you invite someone to your home, you should essentially ask and maybe require that person to prove that they’ve been vaccinated or give their honest and good faith word that they’ve been vaccinated,” Fauci told Sellers.

Be extra careful!

Omicron aside, Fauci said there are already plenty of reasons to be extra cautious. The virus expert pointed out that the U.S. is currently in the midst of a wave of the delta variant, with about 100,000 new cases every day, 50,000 hospitalizations and more than 1,000 deaths per day.

“Under these circumstances, you have to mitigate the situation,” Fauci said. “If you’re in an enclosed space, wear a mask. Be prudent. You’re probably going to be traveling during the holiday season. If you’re at an airport or in an enclosed space where you don’t know the vaccination status of the people around you, be careful and wear a mask.”

Vaccination remains the most important tool for preventing the spread of COVID, regardless of which variant you come in contact with, Fauci explained. “You know, there are some basic tenets that are not going to change regardless of what happens, regardless of whether or not we get an increase or a new variant, and that is that we have an extraordinarily effective and safe tool at our disposal, and that is vaccines,” he told Sellers.

Get vaccinated!

He added: “So if you are not vaccinated, please get vaccinated – for your own safety, your family’s safety and as part of your shared responsibility to get this outbreak under control. [And if you’re already fully vaccinated and eligible for a booster based on the timing of your vaccination, by all means get vaccinated.”
