In recent weeks and months, Prince Albert (63) of Monaco had always presented himself as a loving husband who was always concerned about the health problems of his wife, Princess Charlène (43). For example, he had repeatedly stressed to the press that there was no marital crisis in the couple and that he supported his wife in her recovery. But after Charlène’s return to Monaco, the prince is now seemingly stabbing his wife in the back.
Does Prince Albert not take Charlène’s illness seriously?
All of a sudden, the Prince’s statements sound quite different. After Charlène was again admitted to a clinic after her return to Monaco, Prince Albert now suddenly says: “It was exclusively problems with the teeth, the nasal septum and the sinuses. I don’t want to reveal the doctor’s secret, but it was only the ENT area that was affected,” the prince confirms his wife’s clinical picture. And then adds, “She is not suffering from any serious or incurable disease.” But what is Albert trying to make the world understand with these enigmatic sentences? That his own wife is overdramatizing? Or that the situation is not actually dramatic, but Charlène is seemingly unable to perform her duties? From all appearances, at least part of Charlène’s problems seem to be psychological. This is indicated by the physical condition of the Princess, who has apparently arrived back in the Principality not only severely emaciated but also extremely exhausted.

For sure, her long stay in South Africa was anything but a bed of roses. Besides the health problems, because of which the princess had to undergo several surgical procedures, Charlène had hardly gotten to see her husband and children Gabriella (6) and Jacques (6). The children apparently missed their mother as much as the Princess missed her children. A fact that Prince Albert had also confirmed: “This is an extremely important time in the children’s lives. The way they grow up helps them to see the world.” But that could also be taken as a dig at his wife. Because it implies, by implication, that Charlène couldn’t be there for children because she hasn’t been strong enough. One may be curious whether the health condition of the princess improves soon.
