War. Experts sure: Conflict between USA and China escalates – Is a 3rd world war imminent?

It seems that the conflict between the US and China will escalate. Should it actually get that far, the conflict would also hit Europe hard. Some experts suggest that the conflict could even trigger a new world war.

Could the conflict between China and the US even threaten World War III? Now the English-language newspaper “Taipei Times” writes namely that one throws on the part of the Americans Taiwan “like a piece of red meat” to China. Allegedly the USA is planning an alliance with South Korea and Japan against China. Taiwan is currently standing right between China and the US. Thus Taiwan takes on a role similar to that once played by West Berlin in the conflict between Russia and the Allies. Now the conflict over Taiwan is coming to a head. Most recently, there have been clear signs that China is pushing for the military reintegration of Taiwan. Taiwan is home to one of the world’s largest and most important chip manufacturers. At the same time, it is the most valuable corporation in all of Asia. The USA had always made it clear that the answer to a capture of Taiwan by the Chinese would be military. For this reason, experts see a flashpoint here that could actually trigger a 3rd world war. The daily provocations could trigger military incidents there.

Should military clashes occur between China and the US, it should be clear that the Americans will not go it alone. Most recently, the US had joined with Britain and Australia to form the AUCUS pact. In the course of this cooperation the USA promised to equip the Australian navy with nuclear submarines. These could serve for the Australians then not only for the defence against Chinese nuclear submarines, but would mean at the same time also a threat for the Chinese mainland. These nuclear submarines could be used to launch missiles from Australia into Asia. Agreements were also reached in the areas of cyber warfare and joint advancement in other technical-military fields. The Chinese government had sharply criticized this new cooperation, accusing the three countries of a “Cold War mentality.”

Criticism of the alliance also exists in Europe. Because none of the member states of the EU is in the pact. This was also made public only after the exit of the British from the EU.

This alliance hits especially France at a sensitive point. So Paris had withdrawn its ambassadors from the US and Australia in protest. Because France sees itself as a major power in the Pacific and their influence is now to be curtailed by AUKUS. In addition, the French had actually planned to supply Australia with diesel-powered submarines. But because of the deal with the American nuclear submarines, France now loses an important trading partner. It remains to be seen whether these political disagreements can be resolved.
